Energy Storage Management Scheme to Enhance the Lifetime of Li-ion Battery – Used in the Solar Home System.
Lifetime of the battery is one of the obstacles in the storage base home PV system. With our proposed project we can increases the lifetime and the efficiency of the Li-ion Battery used in the Solar Home system. Energy Storage System (ESS) is essentially allowed self-consumption of electricity generated for home applications using photovoltaic solar panels. This system helps the household consumers to reduce the energy cost either storing the electrical energy when free solar energy is available or during off-peak hours. Most battery chargers use the constant-current constant-voltage (CCCV) method to charge batteries. However, for applications such as home ESS (HESS), the pulsed charging method is a better solution that employs the CCCV concept but interrupts the charge current to improve battery longevity.
We are proposing an Energy storage Management Scheme controls the charge or discharge circuits and the battery banks by alternating the charge or discharge current flow; this maximizes the solar energy utilization while prolonging the batteries lifetime.
