Description

This course on renewable energy modelling and financing presents the tools to analyze and structure renewable energy projects and to incorporate inherent risks required to navigate any renewable energy project. By their very nature, renewable energy projects come in all sizes and can be attractive in any country. Hence, financing models and structures must be adopted accordingly whilst risks must be considered carefully. The course takes students through the foundations of renewable energy project types (e.g. wind versus solar versus hydro) and then consider the components of a business model (e.g. contracts, pricing, etc.). The course will disk different financial instruments that can be used to develop projects, how to structure deals/contracts, and how to incorporate risk. Additionally, the course will take students through a series of practical examples, using Microsoft Excel and Excel-based tools for modeling these costs and conducting analyses on the financial aspects of renewable energy projects.
